DTEP - Work, Employment and Professionalisation

The DTEP which stands for Work, Employment and Professionalisation is the Department responsible for analysing how work is changing and how the observed changes are affecting the management of employment and the professionalisation of workers.

This department serves a two-fold purpose: to monitor labour market changes, taking into account technological, organisational, socio-productive and human aspects, and to assess the impact of such changes on the division of labour, worker qualification processes, occupations and professions, labour management and workforce mobilisation practices, and the structure and content of diplomas and qualifications. 
 
This global approach is achieved by conducting research in four key areas: labour market (analysis of work content and environments, comparison of findings with current vocational training and qualification policies), worker professionalisation (analysis of relationship between vocational training and employment in companies and organisations), workforce hiring and replacement (analysis of recruitment processes and workforce replacement requirements in specific branches and regions), and current trends in occupations and qualifications (qualitative and quantitative analysis of prospects for occupations and workforce renewal). 
 
With these objectives in mind, the department performs qualitative studies in which jobs and the positioning of the social partners are analysed. It also manages the Statistical Branch Portraits (PSB) database, which contains all publicly available statistical data on the relationship between work and employment conditions in production units.
