Experimented for 5 years, the ‘Prépa apprentissage’ scheme is part of the training support strategy introduced as part of the ‘Plan d'investissement dans les compétences’ (Skills Investment Plan). Aimed at the most vulnerable among young people, the preparatory courses are designed to give them the opportunity to get to grips with the world of work. Depending on the participants and the young people involved, it can range from a simple initiation to apprenticeship to an orientation towards a particular sector or a specific “CFA” (apprenticeship training centre). As the experiment draws to a close, this Céreq Bref presents the results of a qualitative evaluation of the scheme, carried out on behalf of Dares by the firms Orseu Recherche & études, Itinere Conseil and Céreq's associated centre in Lille.
