Launch of the partnership, in Rabat (13 and 14 February 2018)

Matteo Sgarzi, the head of Céreq's International Department, took part in a seminar on "the evaluation of public education policies: approaches and methods" held in Rabat on 13 and 14 February and organised by the Higher Council for Education, Training and Scientific Research. The seminar marked the launch of the institutional twinning project between the CIEP (Centre international d'études pédagogiques) and the National Evaluation Authority (Instance nationale de l'évaluation/INE). This project is part of the EU-funded programme "Réussir le statut avancé du Maroc/Achieving advanced status for Morocco".

Training in assessment techniques: econometrics (16-19 April 2018)

Olivier Joseph went to Rabat on April 16-19, 2018 to conduct a training course on assessment techniques for INE staff (computer scientists, economists, sociologists, etc.). The course took place over 4 days and alternated between theoretical and practical sessions.

The schedule was as follows:

  • Monday: presentation of the French initial training system, handling of the SAS software
  • Tuesday: presentation of multilevel models, implementation with the Céreq data
  • Wednesday: presentation of data processing in SAS using an INE database, data construction methodology for analysis of education-to-work transition
  • Thursday: continuation of the presentation of multilevel models, application and discussion.

Ultimately, this partnership made it possible to improve our knowledge of the new challenges facing INE, particularly in the use of statistical software and the various methodologies used in CEREQ's labour market analyses.

Training on the analysis of work (6-8 June 2018)

From Wednesday, June 6 to Friday, June 8, Céreq researchers  Mickaële Molinari and Christophe Guitton were in Rabat conducting a training course on the analysis of work with Moroccan officials from the operational directorates of the Ministries of Education, Higher Education and Labour, together with statisticians, economists, sociologists and econometricians.

The training course took place over three days and focused more specifically on two themes:

  • The school-to-work  transition as seen through the lens of the Céreq Génération surveys
  • Analysis  of future needs with regard to jobs and qualifications

These presentations, which were designed to be operational, gave rise to some very illuminating exchanges on the themes themselves, the challenges they pose and the methods used to analyse them.
